Rampion
Crane order: Palfinger Marine has been contracted to supply 116 electric platform cranes to the 400MW Rampion project.
Planned for a site in the English Channel, the 116-turbine, 400MW wind farm is being developed by E.on and the Green Investment Bank. 7-Oct-15
Wikinger
Foundations progress: The first 3-D offshore jacket foundation for Wikinger has been completed, at Bladt Industries’ Lindo facility in Denmark.
Bladt is fabricating 41 jacket foundations and 164 pin piles for Iberdrola’s 350MW development.
The first jackets are due for delivery in spring 2016, for installation at the Baltic Sea project site. 9-Oct-15
Borkum Riffgrund 1
Formally online: Borkum Riffgrund 1 has been officially inaugurated. Located in the North Sea, the 312MW, 78-turbine wind farm is owned by Dong Energy, the Lego Group (Kirkbi A/S) and investment firm William Demant. 9-Oct-15
Race Bank
New vessel: Norwegian shipping company Ostensjo Rederi will supply a service operation vessel (SOV) that will serve Dong Energy’s 580MW Race Bank project.
The contract runs for five years from September 2017, with an option to extend for a further five years.
The SOV will function as a mother ship for turbine technicians working at the 580MW wind farm, which is planned for a site in the North Sea off Norfolk and Lincolnshire. It will work out of Dong’s Grimsby operations and maintenance base.
Palfinger will also supply 92 electric platform cranes to Race Bank. Planned for a site in the North Sea, the 580MW project is on course for completion in 2018. 9-Oct-15
Dudgeon
Software deal: Statoil has contracted Baze Technology to provide Dudgeon’s wind farm management system.
Under development in the North Sea off Norfolk, the 402MW Dudgeon is a joint venture between Statoil, Masdar and Statkraft. It is due for completion in 2017. 13-Oct-15
Drilling completion: VBMS has completed two 1,170-metre long horizontal directional drillings at the landfall site for Dudgeon’s export cables.
To avoid winter weather conditions, the work was brought forward by three months.
The two 42km export cables will be installed next year. 15-Oct-15
Walney Extension
Installation agreement: Dong has contracted DeepOcean to install and bury Walney Extension’s export and interlink cables.
The scope includes route engineering and the installation and trenching of 136km of export cables and a 23km interlink cable.
The cables will be pulled ashore near Heysham, Lancashire, linking the 660MW project’s two offshore substations to shore.
Cable installation vessel Maersk Connector and trenching vessel Havila Phoenix will be deployed.
The two-phase Walney Extension – an extension of the 367MW Walney 1&2 – is planned for a site in the Irish Sea off Cumbria. 15-Oct-15
